CARVE OR STARVE

Alright all you witches and warlocks, dracula and jedi wannabes. It's that time of year, when we shun the saints and celebrate the ghouls. All Hallows Eve aka HALLOWEEN! You thought it had nothing to do with street art, but you were wrong.

1. Carved pumpkins = art.
2. Carved pumpkins placed on the street/on porches/outside anywhere =
art on the street
3. Pumpkins being a fruit that will decay with weather and age =
inherently ephemeral art.

Bang boom bang, there you go.

THE CHALLENGE:
Here's where we make it even more fun. We went and scrounged ARMSROCK up after his successful opening in Brooklyn on Friday night and bargained a mythical freestyle session and a cup of coffee (black), for his carving skills. (We at Overspray happen to think Halloween is one of the best holidays of the year. Period.) He has set the bar quite high folks, and now we want to see what you can do with a kitchen knife and a pumpkin.

PRIZE:
We are offering a grip of spray paint from the new manufacturer on the block, Plutonium G (70% pigment, you can spray it upside down, etc.) (www.plutoniumg.com). Get nasty on a pumpkin and send us a photo, get as creative as you can and we'll post all the submissions on our blog/site (www.overspray.blogspot.com), with a link to your work elsewhere. The winner will be announced on Halloween and the box of paint will be delivered to your door shortly thereafter.

Get to choppin'.
